Choose bars painted with quality paint. High-quality painting protects the iron against corrosion and moisture; oven-baked painting (like car paint) costs more but lasts for many years without fading or peeling.
Buy bars with the Israeli standard mark only. The standard covers the permitted spacing between bars and their required thickness – unfortunately it is only a recommendation, so the mark tells you that you bought a truly safe product.
